Filed under: Motorsports, Sedan, Europe, Hirings/Firings/Layoffs, Mercedes-Benz, Racing
Italy’s Superstars Series may have seemed like an insignificant championship in the past, but drivers and manufacturers alike are beginning to take notice of what is rapidly emerging as Italy’s equivalent of Germany’s DTM, Japan’s Super GT or Australia’s V8 Supercars series. One of those drivers is Tonio Liuzzi, and one of those manufacturers is Mercedes-Benz.
The German automaker had been represented in the series before, but is now launching an officially factory-sanctioned works effort with a specially-prepared C63 AMG touring car fielded by Caal Racing. And it has lined up an experienced driving talent to man the wheel.
A veteran of 80 grands prix, Vitantonio Liuzzi has driven for Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Force India and HRT, but unfortunately failed to distinguish himself with a single podium finish, pole position or fastest lap in the span of his six years in Formula One. Prior to ascending to the pinnacle of motorsports, he had won the International Formula 3000 championship, and has also tried his hand at A1GP (representing Italy) as well as the Speedcar Series (a stock car series held briefly in the Middle East).
Will he prove himself a greater talent in touring cars than he did in F1? We’ll have to wait and see, but given the factory support in a privateer-dominated series and the number of championships Caal Racing has won, things are looking up for Liuzzi and Mercedes. Follow the jump for the official announcement (in Italian) and check out the batch of official high-resolution images in the gallery above.

Not to be outdone today by Ford’s debut of a twin-turbo Explorer Sport model, Chevrolet has taken the wraps off its redesigned 2013 Traverse.
The big news is all up front, where the 2013 Traverse features what Chevy is calling the new face of its crossover utility vehicles. It includes a three-bar upper and two-bar lower grille design, as well as a “powerdome” hood, though no changes have been made to the direct-injected 3.6-liter V6 underneath. Though everything was redesigned ahead of the A-pillars, the rest of the body was left alone until you reach the D-pillars. Aft of those you’ll find a redesigned rear end with new taillights and liftgate and a relocated license plate pocket.
Chevy has tinkered with the interior too, but not much. The Traverse’s biggest selling point has always been its voluminous interior passenger and cargo space, and that hasn’t changed. The most noteworthy addition inside is that of MyLink, GM’s branded infotainment system that supports Bluetooth voice and audio, as well as apps like Pandora and Stitcher.
Minor suspension adjustments round out the rather short list of changes for this mid-cycle refresh. The segment’s current leader is the aforementioned Explorer, which sold around 135,000 units last year. The Traverse wasn’t too far behind with sales surpassing 107,000 units. Our guess is that these 2013 model year changes probably aren’t enough to unseat the Explorer, but should be enough to keep the Traverse selling well in this quickly growing segment.

Jeep has announced a series of three limited edition Altitude models, the second of them being based on the new Compass. The new Altitude series is the result of an old “Name My Ride” contest announced by the company back in January 2012. Due to the contest’s positive reaction – over 2 million Facebook fans – the company decided to create three special editions wearing the winning name: Altitude.
The new Compass Altitude will feature a distinctive black gloss finish for the seven-slot Jeep grille and headlamps, black roof rails, a black step pad and a set of exclusive 18-inch black gloss aluminum wheels wearing Firestone BSW all-season performance tires.
As standard equipment, customers will get power heated exterior mirrors and heated seats, remote start, continuously variable automatic transaxle, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. The list of safety system will include elements like electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Hill-start Assist (with manual transmission), and side-curtain air bags that cover all rows.
The new Jeep Compass Altitude will arrive at Jeep dealerships in May 2012 and will be priced from $22,190 for 4×2 models and $23,940 for 4×4 models.

|
In building the KTM 690 SMC R, KTM adhered to one motto: “what isn’t there doesn’t weigh anything either.”
It sounds a lot simpler than it looks, but KTM did a fantastic job following this saying with the 690 SMC R while fitting it with a new 690cc LC4 single-cylinder engine, an improved chassis, and world-class Supermoto ergonomics. Really, everything you’d want in an enduro bike is part of the entire 690 SMC R package.
The new 690 SMC R is an unrivaled Supermoto for the most demanding requirements, which leaves all others in its wake. It is suitable for racing or everyday use, features a potent design, and is state-of-the-art.
Talking about its ergonomics, the 690 SMC R comes with a self-supporting rear fender/fuel tank unit that’s made from robust plastic bears with a new, equally comfortable and low seat. The redesigned tank fairings and the ideally angled, wide aluminum handlebars form a perfect arrangement, allowing for simpler controlling and navigation on any kind of road surface.
Then there’s the bike’s state-of-the-art, water-cooled LC4 single-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 66 horsepower, combining powerful acceleration from the lowest rpms with an outstanding free-revving nature and refined engine running. The bike’s electronic engine management system features fuel injection that offers the rider the choice between three different mappings for influencing the engine characteristics. Likewise, the “electronic power throttle” ensures that the throttle commands from the rider are translated electronically into the optimum throttle valve opening at all times, giving rise to tremendously progressive power development that very few bikes in its segment can compete with.
Find out more about the KTM 690 SMC R after the jump.

Filed under: Car Buying, Budget, Europe, Hatchback, Volkswagen, Earnings/Financials
The New York Times reports the European Central Bank may have inadvertently helped buyers looking to take home a new Volkswagen Up! secure low-interest loans. Volkswagen Financial Services was one of many institutions that took advantage of the €1 trillion the central bank set aside to be loaned out at just one percent interest. Volkswagen borrowed €2 billion (about $2.6 billion USD) of that money, and plans to offer the cash to buyers in the form of loans with low three to four percent interest. While the goal of the low-interest loans was originally to stabilize uncertain markets, automakers and other industries are taking advantage of the effectively free cash.
Mercedes Bank has already taken advantage of the generous terms, and PSA Financing, a unit of Peugeot and Citroën, has made mention of doing the same in an attempt to stave off looming poor sales. According to The New York Times, the European auto industry may be facing down its second downturn since 2009. Registrations for new vehicles were down 8.3 percent between January and February of this year compared to the same period in 2011.

Read MoreThe Detox Diet – Are The Health Benefits A Myth or Truth?
In the event that a person did goods similar to order cinzano vermouth red aperitif it can be clever to read this. Even though millions of people have heard of the Detox Diet, very few could actually tell you what it is. First, this is not any one specific diet that you follow. A detox diet comes under the classification of “alternate medicine” and can be composed of any combination of liquids, herbal products, and food. You don’t need to eat from all of these groups. You decide what will be the best avenue to follow for yourself and then you choose which way of eating you want to use to get your body detoxed.
It’s important to understand also that a detoxification program is not long term. It can last from just three days to up to three weeks. Going into “detox” is a serious step and it’s important to get clearance from your medical team before you begin. You must take into consideration any existing health problems you already have. Some of them will not benefit by a detox and you must safeguard your health at all costs.
You can trust the fact that your system works non-stop to free your body of the various and numerous toxic substances that are everywhere. The main systems that work to eliminate these toxins and poisons are your liver, intestinal tract, and your kidneys. So it only makes sense that many components involved with the detox diet support the optimal functions of those organs and processes. Your body already knows how to eliminate toxins. A good detox diet program will allow your body to work better doing its job. When your body’s systems become stronger as a result of detoxification, it can heal faster and your health and strength are improved.
The results from a detoxification include improved intestinal tract health, a stronger immune system, less puffiness (or none at all), and more energy.
The systems responsible for waste elimination, mainly the intestinal tract and digestion process, will have many products available to increase their productivity. As an aside, that is also why you will see enemas marketed as detoxification support. Many herbal enemas are popular, and successful, in helping free up blockages of old, impacted waste products and their eliminating. Commercial laxatives are not recommended for use in the detox process. This is something very important to keep in mind. One natural product that has been around almost forever is psyllium. It may be labeled as a laxative, but it has many more benefits than just a laxative action.
It is in the category of soluble fibers and is amazingly effective in cleansing your system and restoring intestinal health.
One particular detox diet is known as the Master Cleanse. Another common name for this one is the lemonade diet. This method is more like a fast in which only lemonade with maple syrup and cayenne pepper is consumed. As you can clearly see, this seems pretty hardcore and is not for everyone. One well known entertainer was in the news because she lost weight while on the lemonade diet. However, she later reported that she gained the weight back after coming off of it. But keep in mind this is a detox diet and not a lose weight diet. Also, doctors have warned that women in certain situations should not use this approach. So – see your doctor if this diet appeals to you and be safe, always. The are many different reasons that the topic of detox diets has people talking. Now that herbal remedies have hit America, you can find detox diets used throughout the world. If you are looking for an answer to a healthier life, then it is time to check out detox diets. With so many different types of detox diets, you can combine them until you find one that works for you.
Alternative remedies for health, including detox diets, have been used by people around the world for many centuries. It really has not been until roughly the past thirty years that information began appearing about this approach to alternative health. Diets to cleanse your whole body are extremely safe, but certain people are at risk if they should choose to try one. If you are one of the growing number of people who have conditions, such as kidney disease, anemia, and diabetes, then stay away from detox diets. Even though a colon cleanse diet has wonderful health advantages, it is something that pregnant women, or nursing ones should wait to do. If you are looking for a safe effective way to lose weight and feel better, go on a detox diet. Before you decide to start a detox diet plan, there is some further information that you should have.
We will be discussing what toxin evidence does in the physical sense. To make a point, experiencing these reactions on a frequent basis could explained in a number of ways. So avoid jumping to conclusions regarding that matter. There are multiple types of the detox diet but assuredly, this is not created to be a solution for any medical sickness. As stated previously, they are short term strategies that support your body. Keeping up any sort of detox dieting is not wise.
When you find a detox diet you are drawn to, make sure you get all the information that is available. The rationalization behind this is certain detox diets are harsher than other detox diets. Some detox diets are fairly gentle and will not cause excessive stress on your body. Many detox diets give a suggestion of three days to a week in duration. You ought to be in pretty good shape to make an effort at trying this for longer. Ridding your body of contaminates has been known to happen when you only ingest liquids. Still, quite a few decide to undertake this endeavor when they can be in a retreat-type setting that is under observation.
To say the least, the reactions of a harsh detox diet or the method used can be a bit miserable.
A few known examples are weakness, headaches and nausea. Unusual symptoms like that can be alarming, and that is the very reason some seek a more professional environment for undertaking a detoxification regimen. Obviously, people that struggle with problems medically, need to confer with their practitioner before beginning even for example, a short time without food. The profit of correct diet detoxing with suitable recovery are available. It is easy to view how people could be facing issues if they are careless.
Detox diets have actually been used for thousands of years in various forms and cultures. This is admittedly an area of alternative medicine, or approaches, that has caused some controversy with established Western medicine. Should you decide to explore this, make certain you do so within the safe and slower guidelines.
